When people ask where Kaapilibre began, they often expect the answer to be a particular farm, a roastery, or the moment we roasted our first batch of coffee. The truth is far less conventional. It began with curiosity.

The story of specialty coffee often makes us believe its newest chapter is also its first. Precision brewers, scales and machines have deepened our understanding, but they are only tools. Somewhere along the way, we began mistaking them for coffee itself. Coffee never did.

Perhaps the greatest misconception is that specialty coffee costs more because it is trying to become luxurious. The opposite is often true.It is trying to remain honest.
