What makes Kaapilibre different?

We come to coffee from a slightly different place. We grew up around it, left home and discovered the wider world of coffee, and then came back looking at our own coffee with new eyes.

We are not coffee experts with all the answers. We are ordinary people with ordinary knowledge, driven by curiosity. We learn by asking questions, travelling, tasting, listening and paying attention. The more we looked, the more we realised there was always something new to discover.

That curiosity takes us from GI-tagged Wayanad Robusta and specialty Arabicas from Chikmagalur to limited coffees from Nagaland and carefully selected origins beyond India. And we want you to taste that sense of place—sweet, fruity and floral in some cups; deep, chocolatey, nutty and full-bodied in others.

We source thoughtfully, roast with clarity and let the coffee speak for itself. No unnecessary jargon. No permission needed. Just ordinary hands, curious minds and good coffee.

Question 2

Do I need special equipment to brew Kaapilibre coffee?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. Good coffee doesn't require an expensive machine or complicated ritual. If you order whole beans, grind them fresh. If you prefer pre-ground coffee, choose the grind that suits your brewing method.

A simple guide:

South Indian Filter — Medium-fine
Espresso — Fine
Moka Pot — Fine to medium-fine
Pour-over — Medium
French Press — Coarse
Cold Brew — Coarse
Cowboy Coffee / Open-Pot — Coarse.

We also love Cowboy Coffee—the simple way coffee has been made in many homes for generations. Coarse grounds, hot water, a few minutes of steeping, and a gentle pour. No machine, no paper filter, no ceremony.

Your brewing method also changes the cup. Filters affect which compounds and oils make it through, while grind size, water temperature, brewing time and ratio influence extraction.

These are starting points, not rules. Adjust the grind to your taste and your equipment.

Whole bean or pre-ground. Machine or pot. Filtered or unfiltered. The goal is the same: make the coffee your own.

How fresh is the coffee when it arrives?

Freshly roasted coffee is not quite ready the moment it leaves the roaster. During roasting, gases—especially carbon dioxide—build up inside the beans. After roasting, these gases gradually escape through a natural process called degassing. Different bean varieties, processing methods and roast profiles release gas at different rates, so every coffee has its own resting window.

At Kaapilibre, we only pack and dispatch our coffee after it has rested properly. The resting period isn't the same for every coffee—it depends on the bean variety, processing method and roast profile. Once ready, the coffee is packed in specialty coffee pouches with one-way degassing valves, allowing excess gas to escape while helping protect the beans from oxygen.

A simple brewing takeaway: when your coffee arrives, it is ready to brew. But coffee continues to evolve after resting, and you may notice the cup becoming sweeter, clearer and more balanced over the days that follow.

Freshness isn't a race. We give the coffee time to become itself before we send it your way.

Are Kaapilibre coffees specialty coffee?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All of our coffees are specialty-grade, with a minimum scoring  of 83+. But we don't believe a score alone can tell you what a coffee means in the cup. Origin, variety, processing, roast profile and the character of the coffee all matter.

Our Chikmagalur specialty Arabicas, for example, can offer sweetness, fruit and floral complexity, while our GI-tagged Wayanad Robusta brings depth, body, chocolate and roasted-nut character. Our limited Nagaland coffees introduce another landscape and another expression of Indian coffee. Quality matters to us, but so does character, origin and the experience in your cup.

How should I store my KaapiLibre coffee?

Accepted Answer

Keep your coffee away from heat, light, moisture and air. Our specialty coffee pouches are designed to help protect the beans, so keep the pouch sealed between brews and store it in a cool, dry cupboard.

You don't need to refrigerate or freeze your everyday coffee. Just keep it somewhere dry and away from direct sunlight.

And whenever possible, grind only what you need, just before brewing. Freshly ground coffee loses its character much faster than whole beans.

Good storage is simple: keep the coffee cool, dry, dark and sealed.

How do I choose the right Kaapilibre coffee for me?

Start with how you like your coffee to taste.

If you enjoy sweet, fruity or floral cups, explore our specialty Arabicas. If you prefer deep chocolate, roasted-nut character, body and crema, our Wayanad Robusta may be more your kind of coffee. Our blends bring different coffees together for balance, body and everyday drinkability.
